  1. Sign in to your Sucuri Account.
  2. Locate the Backups column and click the icon for the website you wish to update.
  3. Click the More menu in the upper-right corner (above Backup Now), then select Settings.
  4. Navigate to Private Key, paste your SFTP Private Key contents into the text box, and click Save.
  5. Select SFTP/FTP, enable Use account-wide private key authentication, and configure the following:
    1. Server Address: Enter your host IP address or domain name.
    2. Port number: Typically set to 22.
    3. SFTP Username: Enter the SFTP username provided by your hosting provider.
    4. FTP directory path: Specify the complete path to your website content folder (example: /home/username/public_html/).
    5. Protocol: This should automatically default to SFTP.
  6. Click Save.
  7. After completing your configuration, click Backups (Domain) in the upper-left corner.
  8. Click Backup Now, provide a name for your backup, and select Continue.

NOTE: Private key settings apply account-wide—only one private key can be used across all websites in your account.
